Tree Management Plan for Imizamo Yethu, Hout Bay

This project was programmed in 2013 for the City of Cape Town: Department of Housing, due to increasing pressure to provide suitable land parcels for development as housing, we were appointed with a registered arborist, Krige Tree Services as sub-consultants to the Architect.

 

We carried out physical and visual surveys of the existing trees and vegetation to make recommendations to the department on:

• Trees & vegetation suitable for removal, due to their condition or location.

• Trees & vegetation to be relocated.

• Trees & vegetation to be protected and preserved.

• New tree planting & reinstatement of endemic plant material for the purpose of greening, visual screening & windbreaks.

Presentations were made to various role-players, including the Client, the Hout Bay Home-Owners Association & other interested design consultants. The response was an overwhelming approval of the proposed Tree Management Plan by all parties.
