A theoretical viability study was carried out in the precinct around the UCT cricket grounds to ascertain possible development pockets on the periphery of the cricket field on Middle/Lower campus. The Properties and Services: Physical Planning Landscape Architect also used previous tree data and plans together with collection of new data to validate the information as current in order to establish opportunities for development footprints between existing trees, seeking to impact as little of the natural landscape and existing infrastructure as possible.

The location of this site is significant in that it is proximal to the Bremner Forest which has a significant recorded Cape Rain Frog population and this was intended to be considered.
