Environmental & Geographical Sciences Landscape Project
A landscape project for the Environmental & Geographical Sciences Building envelope was designed & detailed by MALA Landscape Architects & Properties & Services: Physical Planning Dept were responsible for managing the implementation of the Phase 4 - Construction Stage and the first 12 months of horticultural maintenance.
Sensitivities included the Cape Rain Frog, existing mature trees that formed part of the UCT cultural and heritage landscape as well as existing indigenous flora that required specific method statements for protection during implementation of the work.
Planting of indigenous Yellowwood trees mitigated the loss of some identified senescent Pine trees.
