WORK EXPERIENCE

Robyn’s professional career formally commenced in 1999. Over the years, she has developed strong skills working on small & large Landscape Architectural projects in government and private spheres.

PROJECTS

Robyn has worked through all stages of landscape projects: from the inception of a project, liaising with Clients, concept & sketch design work, co-ordination, compiling specifications, bills of quantities, working drawings & details for the tender and construction phases of a project, administering & supervising contractors during the construction, maintenance and close-out stages. Her project administration skills are commendable, having managed landscape budgets right down to the finer detail of budgeting and certification. She is familiar with working as part of a consultant team to optimise site opportunities and constraints, co-ordination of a project and integration of services.

 

Robyn has presented work to Client’s at various levels, from residential home-owners to corporate Client’s, Provincial & Local Government Departments. She has also been involved in public project workshops with officials and community representatives or interested and affected parties.

 

UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN

Between 2014 and 2016, Robyn was employed by the University of Cape Town as the in-house Landscape Architect with their Facilities Management Department. This was initially on a contract basis, which was formalised into a permanent position in 2016.

 

The purpose of this role was to facilitate planning, development, design, co-ordination, documentation, management, construction and efficient maintenance of an environmentally sustainable campus that supports the University’s guiding vision & goals. For this purpose, Robyn compiled an overall Landscape Framework and associated series of Landscape Framework Plans, which was informed by & informed the overall Integrated Development Framework,  to ensure good management and guidelines for future development across campuses. This document was completed in August 2015 was endorsed by UCT Properties & Services Department,  the UCT University Building & Development Committee and the UCT Physical Planning & Landscape Committee.

 

RETURN TO PRIVATE PRACTISE

In 2017 Robyn returned to private practice & and is once again busy consulting.

SOUTH AFRICAN COUNCIL FOR THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURAL PROFESSION (SACLAP) CONTRIBUTION 2009 - 2013

2007-2009 - Served on the Registration Committee of the SACLAP.

2009-2013 - Served as a Member of the SACLAP.

Responsibilities:

1. Compiling documents for the registration of candidates.

2. Compiling documents with new categories of registration         for:

     Landscape Technologists

     Landscape Technicians

3. Selection panel for interviewing candidate Landscape Architects with prior experience.

4. Duties regarding the Board Exam / Examination of the Council for registration:

     Arranging examination venues.

     Invigilating the examination.

     Setting examination questions

     Marking the examination.

External moderator for the first year Landscape Design course for the Master’s Degree at the UCT (+-2013)
